Our personalised approach to learning

At Rooted Learning, we understand that every child's journey is unique. Discover how our tailored support, nurturing environment, and innovative learning methods ensure every child feels understood, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Understanding and nurturing every child

Whether you are a parent seeking the right support for your child, a school looking for alternative provision, or a local authority exploring specialist education options, we want you to feel confident that Oak & Ash Learning Provision is a place where children are genuinely understood and supported.

Choosing the right educational setting is a significant decision. That's why we encourage families and professionals to contact us for an informal conversation, arrange a visit, and experience our provision first-hand. Seeing our nurturing environment, meeting our team, and understanding our personalised approach often provides the reassurance that words alone cannot.

Our goal is for every visitor to leave our website with one clear message: you do not have to navigate this journey alone. We are here to listen, answer questions, and work together to find the best possible pathway for every child.

Learning beyond the classroom: outdoor adventures

At Rooted Learning, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our outdoor learning and Forest School programme is a core part of every child's educational journey, providing exciting, hands-on experiences that build confidence, curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong connection with nature.

Children will take part in a wide range of activities throughout the year, including shelter building, campfire cooking, safe tool use, woodland crafts, den building, nature identification, wildlife exploration, pond dipping, habitat creation, gardening, and seasonal environmental projects. They will learn practical skills while developing teamwork, communication, creativity, and problem-solving in a meaningful and engaging way.

Our outdoor curriculum also includes opportunities for adventure and challenge. Children may navigate woodland trails, complete team-building tasks, use maps and natural navigation skills, care for our outdoor spaces, and participate in conservation projects that help to protect our natural environment.

Holistic growth: nurturing wellbeing and success

At Rooted Learning, we believe that children thrive when they feel safe, valued, and understood. Academic progress is important, but lasting success comes from supporting the whole child. That is why our approach focuses equally on learning, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and personal development.

Through nurturing relationships, personalised learning, and specialist support, we help children rebuild trust in education and develop a positive sense of self. Every child is encouraged to learn at their own pace, celebrate their achievements, and recognise their own strengths. By removing barriers to learning and creating opportunities for success, we help children develop resilience, independence, and a belief in what they can achieve.

Our outdoor learning and Forest School programme plays a vital role in this journey. Spending time in nature encourages children to explore, solve problems, work collaboratively, and take positive risks in a safe and supportive environment. These experiences foster inner calm, reduce anxiety, and build a strong foundation for future learning and personal success.
